CAGD 112 Final post
Hyper
Realism
For
this final assignment we had to use 2 or more images that we had to take to create
a surrealistic image. The image that I created was based of another image where
there is an open door in an area but the other side of the door leads to somewhere
else. I also based it off of the scene in Monsters Inc. where the two main
characters were pushed through a door in their factory and then they ended up
on a snowy mountain with just the doorframe there. This led me to trying to
create an image that is similar to these ideas. The first image that I took was
of someone opening a door inside the dorms and the second image that I took was
of a walkway with some trees and other people walking on it. Once I took these
images into photoshop I knew that there was going to be a problem with my final
product because my image of the person opening the door was a little blurry
which didn’t look blurry in the camera after taking. The only way that I knew
of how to fix this problem was to take another photo that wasn’t blurry but I
did not have any time too. So, I had to use what I had to create my image. Editing
the two photos together was pretty easy since I only had to remove the space on
the other side of the door and put the other image that I need in that empty
space. I also adjusted the brightness a little so that the images had some
similar lighting to them. After editing
the final image was decent and I think that if I had more practice and getting
non-blurry photos then I could have created what I had envisioned.
Portrait
Final Image
In
this assignment we had to take a photo of a person, who gave us their
permission, where lighting would complement the person and help them stand out
as the focal point and also capture their emotion or character. I asked my
friend who is a rapper if I could take some photos of him for this project and
I told him that he could use the final image after if he wanted to post it
anywhere to help him out too. I took this photo during golden hour before the
sun went down and it created the perfect light source that I was looking for. I
also wanted the background to not be distracting in the photo so I took this image
in front of a pillar with a covered hallway in the back that had shadows in the
background but the light on my subject. I thought this created a great contrast
between my subject and background. When I
put the image in photoshop I only had to made a couple of adjustments to make
the final image even better. I used the clone stamp tool to take away some of
the blemishes on my subject’s face and I added the black and white filter so
the viewer wouldn’t be distracted by any color and be drawn to my subject even
more. I was very pleased with how the image turned out in the end and how it
draws the eye right away to the subject.
HDRI
For
this assignment we had to the same photo 5 to 6 times with different exposures
and then combine them all in photoshop to create this image. This assignment
took me a little while because I did not know how to adjust the exposure on my
camera to get the two overexposed shots. After a little while of messing with
my camera and figuring out how to navigate through it I was able to adjust the
exposure to where I wanted it and I found a good subject for my image. I was
standing on a bridge that is over the river that runs through campus that had a
lot of trees and bushes lining the sides and I thought it would be great for
this. After I got all the images, I needed I combined them all in photoshop and
adjusted the saturation of the greens in the image which made the image feel a
little brighter. This final image was very satisfying to me but the only thing
that I would have changed was the sky because it feels a little too dark and
cloudy when compared to all the bright leaves and grass and the contrast
between the two don’t work that well.
